IEA – Future of Cooling

In countries like the UK, there is more of a concern for heating in the winter than staying cool in the summer. But with warmer and longer summers predicted in the future, such needs for cooling will be on the increase. In fact, as Fatih Birol, Executive Director of the IEA puts it, this “growing demand for air conditioners is one of the most critical blind spots in today‚Äôs energy debate. Setting higher efficiency standards for cooling is one of the easiest steps governments can take to reduce the need for new power plants, cut emissions and reduce costs at the same time.”
